Journal

03/26: MONDAY, MARCH 26TH...

MONDAY, MARCH 26TH 8:00PM

So my drumming workout has started....surprisingly well I might add. I've been trying to eat healthier and have attempted to stay a bit more active than I usually was when I came home so drumming wouldn't tire me out as quickly.

Songs are STILL churning out...and we're getting more excited with every one. Actual tracking for the new record will be starting in 3 weeks.

Look out for a new website with a studio journal (including pics and other media). We will also be doing an in-studio weekly video segment through some fantastic people (at least 2 videos per week). It's going to be a very fun, comfortable process.

I can't believe it's been almost two years since our last record came out...the time went by so fast! Either way, I feel like we have matured a TON musically and these new songs are hopefully going to impress you guys.

On personal notes....I've now seen 300 twice in theaters and have loved it just as much each time. I'm very excited that the new Wil Ferrel movie is coming out this Friday. And last but not least....opening day for baseball is a week away (well at least for me and my beloved cubbies).

Enjoy your evenings!

03/20: TUESDAY, MARCH 20TH...

TUESDAY, MARCH 20TH 2007

So here's what we're up to...

Personally, I am about to religiously get all my drum tracks memorized for the studio. We start actual tracking in the 2nd week of April, so I basically have about 4 weeks to get myself completely prepared (which shouldn't be a problem with many-hours-a-day worth of drumming).

Everyone else is doing the same with their respective jobs. All the while, we are still getting together and churning out new ideas that could possibly make it onto the album (we got 3 more done within the last week). We are VERY excited!

On top of that, it's going to be so comfortable being able to record at home in Chicago. We haven't really had this good of a setup for any of our recordings so far...so that's another bonus.

Look out for multiple video updates for every week that we're in the studio. Also, a new web design should be ready to go in the near future. We've got an album cover to share with you, more music, more pictures, etc etc.

TOUR dates are also slowly coming to life. We'll have our full summer touring plans announced to you once they are finalized. No worries in that department, once we're done recording we plan on playing a LOT of shows.

Keep in touch with us! We'll be doing the same.

"Make It Blur" will be in the studio coming to life very shortly.

We thought the new song was something more unique from us musically...what'd you all think?

--Sutor+june

11/20: What's going on...

What's going on everyone? I haven't updated you guys on much, so I thought I would give an update as to what we're doing and what we're planning on doing in the upcoming months.

Right now, we have about 10 songs actually demoed (sp?) with a TON more ideas being worked on. The songs are coming along incredibly well and it's awesome having our next record as the only thing on our minds. I would say the songs are somewhat similar to "If You Speak Any Faster". We have a bit more of a variety and obviously I believe we have progressed as writers so it'll be cool to see what comes out of us once we finally enter the studio. Basically, we want to make a kick ass/in your face rock record. There will be none of the "well, it's going to be really different and will be set in some strange place and time that has an unprecedented meaning" crap, haha.

We're writing just about every day...with breaks during the weekly Bears game of course! Life is good.

How are all of you doing? Thanksgiving is coming up. I hope all of you have a great dinner with your families. By the way, if you're of age and live in the Chitown area...I encourage you to come see the greatest cover band ever at the Cubby Bear (right by Wrigley Field) on Wednesday night. It's going to be a PARTY! So amazing.

Movie I just saw = Stranger than fiction

Will Ferrell does a pretty good job. It's a bit of a strange role for him but the movie was surprisingly very good. Anyone else agree?

Ah well, I'm going to try writing some more. Enjoy your evenings. Write/comment back. We love hearing from ya.

PS - go BEARS

11/08: We're workin on new...

We're workin on new songs! Not much else to update on the band's part. I went and saw Borat a couple days ago and it was absolutely hilarious. I also saw "The Prestige" (great movie) and "Saw 3" (disgusting movie). Good stuff. I'm definitely enjoying the time at home and just itching to get some new music done and recorded.

Soooooooo.....we can finally announce the whole bill for our Christmas show.

By the way, it's called "A Very Beary Christmas".

You're going to want to come if you live in or near Chicago.

10/24: JUNE UPDATE!...

JUNE UPDATE! Writing time...

Well, we're home for a long time. I haven't said that in a while, haha.

This last week of touring was an absolute blast. We saw a bunch of old friends, a ton of you came out to the shows, and we got to see reactions for the new songs that we let all of you guys hear for the first time. I hope you guys enjoyed yourselves as much as we did.

Also, a big thank you goes out to This Providence/Park/Tyler Read for joining us on the tour. They were all fantastic and you really need to check them out. Tyler Read has a new album coming out in spring/summer and it will blow your mind.

As for us...it's writing time. We are working as hard as possible to get you guys new music asap. Expect to hear some new demos by the year's end and then a new record by springtime. We're very excited on all of our new ideas already, it's gonna be good stuff.

Please, send us any messages and leave us comments. I will be checking this all the time (as will all the other guys). We want to hear from you.

09/21: So here's the...

So here's the dillio (in the words of Mest, of course)....the Paul McCartney cover for "Wonderful Christmas Time" is DONE! It seriously sounds amazing. I will say that it was pretty nervewrecking for us to try and cover a song written by one of the greatest songwriters ever...but we feel like we captured the song incredibly well...along with adding a bit of our taste to it. We definitely did the song justice, so I am very very very happy. This was our first cover song! haha

Anyway, I'm sure you guys will hear it sometime soon, I don't know when we'll be able to post it but the "Santa Cause Vol II" comp comes out on November 1st (I believe) so you'll definitely be able to listen to it then. Keep on the lookout!

Writing is now back in full session. Get ready to hear some new tunes. It's gonna be good stuff.

Besides everything going on...it is officially my golden birthday! 22 on September 22nd! Boo yah.

You know how I'm going to celebrate?? SLEEP until the wonderful day/evening that will be later. It's going to get crazyy.

I will update you all tomorrow night...hopefully...haha

Have a good evening

09/18: QUICK RECORDING...

QUICK RECORDING UPDATE....

So we went into a studio called the "Engine Room" today in Chicago and tracked all the drums and bass parts for our Christmas cover song. If you didn't know, we are covering Paul McCartney's "Wonderful Christmas Time". The tracking went amazing. The song is going to be SWEET.

Tomorrow and Wednesday will be acoustic guitars, electric guitars, vocals, percussion, and mixing. Hopefully you guys will be able to hear this song fairly soon, we're really excited with how it's turning out.

Besides the cover, we're writing in preparation for our upcoming EP/DVD and Full Length #2. Busy busy busy. It's nice to be home and it's also nice to be preparing new material.

As for me, I'm currently listening to "A Little Longing Goes A Long Way" by THE BOOKS while trying to map out melodies and ideas for new songs. It's an enjoyable event for sure. I like not having homework to do, haha (I apologize for the 90% of you that are in school).

Have a great evening and good day tomorrow. Leave us some love!

--Sutor+june

09/15: SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER...

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 16TH 1:11 AM

So here's what's going on in June land.

First off, be prepared to hear a wonderful Christmas cover song that we're doing for a release coming off of Immortal Records later this year. We will be covering Paul McCartney's "Wonderful Christmas Time" and it's going to be saweet. The recording of that will happen early next week.

We have fully entered writing mode. We are preparing to have a couple acoustic songs with a cover or two along with a DVD to be released in January....which is right around the time we will be recording our next full length. EXCITING, eh?? We basically are getting together every day and just trying to get as many ideas out as we can to work on. It's very nice to only have the music to focus on this time around (when we wrote the first full length we were all basically still in school so we had alot more on our minds). I'm really really excited about the new songs, I feel like we've matured to a whole new level and our influences are coming in from all over the place to hopefully make something very unique but still in our realm of pop-rock-your-face-off, haha.

In personal news, I've grown attached to the new Justin Timberlake record (I've posted this before, I apologize if I'm starting to annoy you, haha), the new Nelly Furtado record, Everclear's "So Much For The Afterglow", and a band I just found out about called "The Books" (Super chill stuff, like Sigur Ros and music in Vanilla Sky).

It's strange to actually think about how much I incorporate listening to music in my life. I'm doing it almost the whole day every day. So good. Any of you guys feel the same?

It's also weird to be at home for such a long time. I am not used to sleeping in my bed for this many days in a row...or not having to wake up at 6AM to drive 11 hours for a show. It's a very nice break so far. I went to a brand new sports bar tonight that just opened and it's pretty bad ass. Definitely going to go there for the Bears games on Sundays.

Also, my birthday is next Friday! September 22nd. Going to rock.

Anyway, I'm listening to "The Nothing Song" by Sigur Ros and just chilling in my room/attempting to write and structure some songs.

Write/Comment back, I hope you're all having a grand September.

09/05: TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER...

TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 5TH 9:15PM

So what's going on everyone? I haven't written one of these in about 3 weeks and I wanted to apologize. Touring kind of puts a cramp into having time to just sit around on a computer and write for a while.

We just finished up a tour with Halifax, The Classic Crime and So They Say for about 2 1/2 weeks...and then we went out with The Classic Crime and Dave Melillo for another week. We got really close with the classic crime dudes while on tour, alot of fantastic nights, drives, talks and parties. So good! It was another big family that we had on tour...and now it's over, ha.

Anyway, as for right now, we're going to be playing 3 dates with Motion City Soundtrack, Sherwood and The Dog And Everything. Check our myspace for the dates. We're only going to be doing one more short tour for the year, so come hang out!

Writing and practicing is now on our minds. We need to get new songs ready to rock and dance to. This record is going to be incredibly fun to make. It's going to be the first time that music is ALL we have to focus on. I'm very excited, and I hope all of you are as well.

I will be updating MUCH more often when I get home in a couple days. You guys are too irresistable to talk to. Leave me some replies/comments.

By the way, I'm obsessed with the new Justin Timberlake record and I'm not ashamed to admit. He writes some damn good pop songs.

Talk to you soon!

--Sutor+june

08/11: FRIDAY, AUGUST 11TH...

FRIDAY, AUGUST 11TH 6:30 PM

So this past week we really started getting down to work with our sets for the upcoming Halifax tour and our two sets for our TWO shows at Knights Of Columbus (in Arlington Heights, IL). Since that show is coming up in a week I wanted to address that first in this update. Tickets still remain but will for sure pick up pretty fast this week. If you're interested in going to the show pick up your tickets asap. It's going to be a pretty cool show. You can get them at....

http://byathread.indietickets.com/tickets/customer/home.php?

Along with practicing for this tour+shows, we have been writing ALOT. Ideas are coming along very smoothly. It's a good sign. Next record will rock.

On a personal note, I ended up watching "Vanilla Sky" on my night of boredome about a week ago (when I asked all you fine folk to give me some suggestions for movie watching). Great, great movie. It always gets me teared up at the end. I also went and saw Talladega Nights in theaters. WOW! Will Ferrel does it again. The movie was hilarious all the way through, so funny.

Tonight I'm going to a good friend's birthday party in the lovely downtown area of Chicago. It should be a grand evening seeing a bunch of old friends and getting some drinkage/dancing on.

Here's a good question. Favorite drink? Let me know! haha

I will udpate soon. We have a couple days left at home before our 3 week tour with Halifax and then week tour with Motion City Soundtrack! Check out all the dates, gonna be fun.

--Sutor+june

08/02: WEDNESDAY, AUGUST...

WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 2ND

Being on the road has taken me away from one of my favorite things to do while at home. That thing is the wonderful action of movie-watching. I seriously need to catch up on any somewhat-recent movies that have been amazing. What should I rent from good ole Blockbuster??

Life is still very good. I watched V for Vendetta yesterday. Natalie Portman is/was my ultimate star "obsession" and she looked pretty damn good with buzzed hair as well. Only proves that my moviestar is better than yours, haha. I think a day at the beach is being planned for tomorrow unless I end up going up to Tim's summer home in Wisconsin. No clue what's going to happen just yet, but you all will know afterward. Tim's house will = going on a boat. That'd be damn fun.

New songs are coming in slowly but surely! We are very very excited to finally be able to mess around with new songs....play them live....record them....put out a new record....and hopefully all of you will love it. Thanks for your support anyway.

I am currently jamming to the new Regina Spektor album, the new Format album, ALL Third Eye Blind albums, and Everclear's "So Much For The Afterglow". You should buy all of them instantly if you don't have them. Listening to Everclear totally brings me back to 7th grade and I love it. You know when you hear those songs or smell those smells that totally remind you of a huge period of your life. That's always fun to do whenever it's night time and you're bored; for me anyway. Also, if you haven't heard of a band called "Terminal" (they're broken up now) you should definitely check out their record they put out last year. I find myself listening to that over and over again as well. Good good stuff. It's a shame they didn't blow up like they should have.

Short reminder! Chicagoans. Arlington Heights. August 18th. Two Shows. Buy your tickets NOW!

http://byathread.indietickets.com/tickets/customer/home.php?

I'm out to get some delicious food and then hopefully watch a movie. If you haven't tried the amazing combination of popcorn and milk duds, I suggest you do so asap. Put like 2-3 milk duds in your mouth, chew em up a bit (DON'T swallow yet). Then take a handful of popcorn and mix em together. It's pretty gross and fattening, but in an insanely good way. Of course, I don't recommend this treat often, as you will start to feel all the fat hanging around in your body afterward, haha.

ENJOY your days people! Summer is almost over!

--Sutor (www.myspace.com/sutor)

08/01: TUESDAY, AUGUST 1ST...

TUESDAY, AUGUST 1ST

Took the Hellogoodbye guys to Lou Malnotti's and they LOVED it. Haha, Chicago pizza wins again! Besides that, they basically got to see a bunch of the chicagoland area and then we went to one of the biggest (and best) malls in America....Woodfield Mall (located in good ole Schaumburg, IL....where AJ lives).

It was quite a good day.

You all fucking rule, I just wanted to let you know that. It's nice for me to be able to share a pretty basic journal update and have all of you answer and share whatever is going on with your lives. Trust me, I read them ALL! I try to respond as much as I possibly can but please make sure to feel like it's not a lost cause to respond. THANK YOU for just being a friend and appreciative of our music overall.

Anyway, let me know what was going on today for you. My day was pretty basic. Pizza, hangouts, big mall, dairy queen, hangout with a real old friend that I haven't seen in forever, and now I'm here getting ready for bed soon.

More updates coming soon. I will have more interesting things to share as well, I promise you.

Knights of columbus, august 18th, be there. :)

07/30: SUNDAY, JULY 30TH ...

SUNDAY, JULY 30TH

It's strange being at home for a time longer than 2 days....I feel like I'm just wasting time that I could actually be productive with...like touring, haha. Ah well.

What are all ya'll up to? Today I woke up, got dressed and hung out at Warped Tour in Chicago all day. It was kind of sad being there again and seeing all the familiar faces. If you didn't know, we played the first 2 weeks of Warped and then went on tour with 30 seconds to Mars for all of July. Sucks that we had to leave Warped though...so many cool peeps there. Anyway, the day was fun, checked out some friends playing in this wonderful hometown of ours. The crowds were ginormous for The Audition, The Junior Varsity AND The Academy Is (of course them...). It's always good seeing the hometown take over Warped Tour.

I think I'm going to be booking a weekend in Cedar Point pretty soon. You guys know what that is? It's the NUMBER ONE amusement park in the world! I'm so stoked on roller coasters it's not even funny, ha. Besides that, we're writing. We have to get the new record ready! Excited? We are.

Tomorrow is a day off of Warped Tour so I'm going to show the Hellogoodbye dudes a good time in the area. I will be treating them to the nation's BEST pizza (that's right new yorkers, chicago OWNS) at Lou Malnotti's. Deep dish is my life.

07/28: FRIDAY, JULY 28TH...

FRIDAY, JULY 28TH 11:50PM

We're home! We love and missed you: Chicago.

Don't worry everyone else, we love you as well, we just happen to live here with our families, friends, girlfriends, etc.

The 30 seconds to mars tour was basically amazing. We made some great new friends with a band called "Envy On The Coast". Check them out, they're young and about to rule your life. The 30 seconds guys were also very very bodacious. We hung out with them and their crew every day and by the end of the tour we were all a giant big family again. It's always so sad leaving a tour...you see people every day for a month straight and then BOOM they're gone. Ah well, life goes on, more tours with them later...

As for now....we have some very cool ideas in store. First off, writing for the new record (and maybe some other fun things) starts NOW! Songs are going to be written and messed with for quite some time. We plan on delivering a new album for you guys as soon as we can. Rock and roll.

More updates soon...I promise. I'm HOME!

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS (that goes for all you Chicagoans)...

Get your tickets to our knights of columbus show NOW! They are selling fast and the show is a couple weeks away.

SEE YOU THERE!

07/04: TUESDAY, JULY 3RD...

TUESDAY, JULY 3RD 1:00PM

The 30 seconds to Mars tour is going fantabulous. It's cool to be playing to a new crowd every night (of course with many of you friends also coming to check out the shows). We are having a blast with our loves in The Audition and new friends in Agent Sparks and 30 Seconds To Mars. We just played The Stone Pony last night in Asbury Park, NJ. AWESOME show. All the people there were having a real good time and dancing along to every band, definitely a fun time. As for now, we are driving HOME for 3 days! It's going to be our first time off without anything to do since March. We're very excited. After that, we will be heading to Grand Rapids (The Intersection) to resume this tour and we'll be out with these guys until the end of the month. Check our touring schedule, we might be coming to your city very soon.

Short update, I apologize, not much to report in right now. Check out more tour dates as well, we're doing a tour with Halifax/The Classic Crime/So They Say and a bunch of college dates with Motion City Soundtrack.

HAPPY 4TH OF JULY!!!!

We will see you all soon.

PS - Jared Leto is a stud.

06/29: FRIDAY, JUNE 30TH...

FRIDAY, JUNE 30TH (early morning)

I apologize for not getting you wonderful people an update as of late but we have been completely busy with Warped Tour. We played on the first two weeks and yesterday was the last day which turned out to be bittersweet because we are going to miss our friends on the tour and the good times that came with it...but we aren't going to miss the work involved, haha.

Warped Tour was one of the most tiring things my body has experienced as of late. I got an average of about 4.5 hours of sleep, we had loadin's at 8AM every day, the destination for our equipment from our trailor was usually a long ways away through some sort of crazy terrain, we all either were by our merch tent or walking around promoting our band all day (this was in terrible heat or pouring rain, either way..FUN!), we loaded out after 8PM, hung out with all our friends and then took off for a 5-8 hour drive to make it for loadin the next day. Even with all the "negatives" that happened to fall in that list, I'm going to miss Warped and all the people who were on it. Our goal next year will be to play even more dates and hopefully be able to connect with many more of you guys. Help us get there!

My favorite part of Warped...being able to watch Chris Conley and Saves The Day perform not once..but TWICE a day (once acoustic and then once as full band on main stage). It was very cool to see the band that basically helped to influence all of our musical careers directly. Not only that, but we actually all got to meet and hang out with Chris a couple of times and he wore a June shirt during one of his shows! How insane is that?! Rest assured, we all freaked out appropriately.

As for now, we're all getting ready to perform for a full month on the 30 Seconds To Mars tour with The Audition. THAT is going to be a pretty awesome time. It starts tomorrow (today, to be literal) and we're pretty excited. Check out all the dates on our main page.

More updates coming very soon. We love you all and miss you. Come hang out at the shows!

For all of you Chicagoans...check out our Arlington Heights shows on August 18th. We're performing 2 shows in one day with Halifax/The Classic Crime/So They Say. We want to blow this day out of the water and make it amazing for all of you. Get your tickets NOW, both shows will sell out! Just click the link at our main page...

Keep in touch. Leave us tons of comments/messages. Call us at 858-337-0265. We try to answer as much as we can.

See you all soon!

06/04: SUNDAY, JUNE 6TH...

SUNDAY, JUNE 6TH 7:00PM

We're sitting backstage at a venue called "The Marquis Theater" in Denver. The show tonight is pretty much rockalicious. The 2nd half of our headlining tour started about a week ago and we seriously couldn't have imagined having more fun. We already knew As Tall As Lions, The Junior Varsity and Just Surrender....and all we've heard about Houston Calls is that they're the sweetest dudes ever (which turned out completely true). That one big combination = a pretty kick ass tour.

Our big goal for today is to get the people who are actually filming on the Real World right now (not the one that is airing, the one that's actually filming). We left them a nice big note with some beer telling them to come to the venue so we could all hang out, haha. WISH US LUCK!

For this half of the tour, our trailor has been out of commission getting fixed in Amarillo, TX. We want to thank the rest of the bands for letting us borrow equipment.

More updates coming soon.

CHECK OUT THE NEW WEBSITE!!! (www.junerock.com)

And for all you Chicago folk. House Of Blues. June 13th.

We want to see everyone there!

05/20: SATURDAY, MAY 20TH...

SATURDAY, MAY 20TH 5:45PM

Soooo sorry for not really updating you guys as of late, it's been a pretty hectic time for all of us here constantly touring and setting up our summer. First off, the Format tour was absolutely incredible. We love that band to death and it was a huge pleasure for us to see them perform every night for a full month. We also made some really good friends in Tickertape Parade (A kick ass rock band) and Anathallo (definitely the most unique and talented band we have ever toured with). Life is GOOD!

Right now I'm sitting backstage at the "ottobar" in Baltimore where the last show we played here was in October...wow, time is FLYING by. Crazy shizzle. We started our first ever "headlining" tour a couple weeks ago and it's seriously been such a huge surprise to see so many of you guys coming out to the shows. ALL the bands on this bill with us are incredible, definitely come check out the show if you haven't. We are also very sorry that Valencia couldn't be on the tour after the very tragic event that took place. It's not really my place to elaborate on here, but there was a very close friend of theirs that passed away and they couldn't make the tour anymore. We played one very emotional show with them in Philadelphia and the guys were all amazing. Hopefully we'll get together with them in the future...

Wow. So much stuff going on, I don't know if I'll be able to recollect and explain it all. We're getting ready to start the 2nd half of this tour with Houston Calls, Just Surrender, The Junior Varsity and As Tall As Lions. All the shows are selling really well ticket-wise so pick them up asap!

Furthermore...we're starting to seriously talk about a NEW record! We've got a bunch of ideas together for songs and pretty soon we're going to lay out the schedule for the rest of the year and see when the best time would be to write/record so we can get something to all of you nice and quick. You will all be updated very often on that.

Ahhhh....I gotta go get ready to play! More updates soon...sorry for the lack of them as of late.

Much love. Leave us some comments on the myspizzle.

Chicago, Illinois, the windy city. It may be the most competitive indie and punk scene in the Midwest unleashing some of the best bands of the last few decades. Although a band is meant to be a collective effort, it is rare that you find a group of guys writing music based on their individual influences as opposed to what's selling this week. One might question what a band that listens to such a wide variety as The Blood Brothers and Nelly Mckay might sound like... rightfully so. The answer? Probably not a midpoint between the two at all.

June, Mark Sutor, Tim Brennan, Mark Palacz, and AJ Brown basically started the band as a joke, says Sutor, and realized we had a pretty good thing going. After recording an early four-song demo and playing around the local Chicago scene and effectively building a loyal following, this joke began to catch on. The band independently released The June EP in mid-summer of 2004. Soon after, the band signed with Chicagos Victory Records. Having people we work with that share the same vision as us is an awesome situation, having those same people be in Chicago is amazing, says Sutor.

Junes new music is reminiscent of Chicagos scene while portraying more down to earth interests. The band is a delicate balance between a power pop collaboration combining melodic guitar hooks and vocal harmonies and a rock band lyrically straying away from typical avenues. With a very active year ahead of them and a debut full length produced by Brian Mcternan(Thrice, Hot Water Music) due out on Victory records in summer, theyre coming to a town near you to sleep on your floor. The band will be keeping a relentless touring schedule and they have no plans of slowing it down after 2005. Although the average age in the band is 20 and some of the boys liquor licenses are newly acquired, they are happy to report that none have become full-time alcoholics yet. Dont worry gentlemen. Youll get there.
